It is eighteen years
since the announcement that Robert Gallo had isolated the "Hiv"
virus which was said to be afflicting gay men. This disease was said to be
confined to the homosexual community with a risk among IV drug users. I imagine
that anyone who had more than one partner wondered had they contracted the
virus especially when they became ill with any illness. There was a quiet
panic in everyone's mind. At the time I was one of those who wondered even
though I was seldom if ever ill. Another concern for many people was their
children and the future. I use to worry that my children would not have freedom
of expression without being promiscuous and I thought about how horrible a
death it would be for anyone diagnosed with this new disease.
I
never questioned the HIV = Aids = Death paradigm, it did not cross my mind
that the people who are supposed to be helping us remain healthy would make
such a terrible mistake. I met three people diagnosed with the virus in
1997 in a hospital in Dublin. I had no idea they were HIV positive until we
got talking and they told me. These were the first people I had ever personally
met who had been diagnosed.
Despite the fact that I was working and living within a community of over
80,000 in the suburbs of Dublin, Ireland and my work was with drug users and
their families, I had never met anyone diagnosed positive. I knew some openly
gay men and they were all healthy and well. I had known chromic drug abusers
when I was in my late teens/early twenties, twenty years ago, and other than
one death from drug overdose all are still living. Some would say that I am
lucky but it is more than that, it is what drove me to research the issue.
I am an involved and aware person, yet, I know of not one person personally
who has died from Aids. I am one of a family of eight and not one of my siblings
know anyone who has the virus, amazing in a country as small as Ireland, don't
you think?
Perhaps having no personal contacts with anyone diagnosed it is surprising
that I got involved in the issue. The Aids hype had affected me in the sense
that I had spent time worrying about my children's futures and my past. I
spent time listening to others who had the same concerns as I had and to men
who would contact the Men'
s Aid helpline looking for addresses of testing centers near them because
they had met a woman the night before and did not use protection. We also
had calls from men who were awaiting results of the test.
Over the past seven months I have CO-edited AidsMyth with my partner Fintan
Dunne. We have spent months researching both sides of the HIV = Aids debate.
The more I have researched the more I realize that there is something very
wrong with what we have been led to believe. This is a very complex debate
and can isolate people who become overwhelmed by the scientifics of it. I
am one of those people who felt daunted by the massives of information once
I began to research. For this reason I have compiled a list of links which
I consider vital reading for women who are first timers to the debate. I suggest
you do as I did, read and then make up your own mind, there is plenty of material
to assist you.
1. What
have we been told about HIV & Aid$?
The orthodox view on Aid$ holds that it is caused by the virus known as HIV
that is transmitted through the exchange of bodily fluids. Once infected,
a person will remain well for a time, though infectious to others, before
going on to develop Aid$ and dying. Despite huge sums of money spent on medical
research, there is still no cure, just drug therapies said to slow the progression
of the disease, and regular T cell counts to measure health. A whole industry
has evolved around Aid$, on which many careers and businesses depend, but
which offers little hope to those affected
2. Why
Question Aid$?
On April 23, 1984 Dr. Robert Gallo announced that he had discovered "the probable
cause of Aid$", a new retrovirus, later named HIV. Gallo's statement was made
at an international press conference, circumventing essential rules of the
scientific process; he presented no evidence for his hypothesis that HIV caused
Aid$--he had not published his research findings in any scientific or medical
journal where they would be subject to the normal process of peer review prior
to being announced to the public.
3.
The
Test
"Rarely, if ever, has a single diagnostic
test had such an enormous impact on the lives of the millions of people
who rely on it. Since 1985, the U.S. government and various civilian institutions
have performed more than 20 million HIV tests every year. Responses to positive
tests have been melodramatic. People have been known to commit suicide or
murder, lapse into depression, have abortions, become divorced, and take toxic
medications. (2) Tragically, these dramatic actions were triggered by a test
that is far from foolproof. " Celia Farber, Mothering Sept./Oct. 1998
4. Health
warning to all expectant mothers
As part of your standardize ante-natal care service, you will be recommended
to take an HIV test.1 The HIV test is an inaccurate diagnostic tool and remains
scientifically unproved. The following facts about the HIV test and certain
Aid$ drugs have been included in this leaflet for your suggested reading.

Reasons to Question a Positive HIV Test
Christine Johnson, a researcher and author, compiled this list of conditions
documented in the scientific literature to cause positives on HIV tests, and
provides references for each condition
6. Aids
war targets women & children
Mandatory HIV testing of pregnant women has lead to court ordered medication
of infants of HIV positive mothers, even infants who test HIV negative at
birth. As you read this, numerous custody battles are waging between state
health officials and parents who object to administering AZT, a toxic DNA
chain terminator and known carcinogen, to their newborn children. The following
is a report from one of the latest victims of the war on Aid$.
7. HIV
Testing: It Could Happen to You
Despite relatively low numbers, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and
the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) published a
joint statement in the July, 1999 issue of Pediatrics calling for the universal
HIV testing of the more than four million women who give birth each year.
In doing so, they endorsed an Institute of Medicine (IM) study that calls
for "a national policy of universal HIV testing as a routine component of
prenatal care."

Coutsoudis said her study showed a 44 per cent reduction in transmission among
women who breasted exclusively for six months, even though the mothers had
HIV and were not taking drugs.
9. Aid$:
Is anyone positive? by Naval
Hodgkinson.
Aid$ grew into a multi-billion-dollar
business when it was claimed in the mid-1980s that the virus "does not discriminate"
and that it would be only a matter of time before it swept through the world's
sexually active populations. The huge investment of money and energy made
it difficult for ideas about the nature of the illness to change. Government
and industry scientists, as well as public health officials, Aid$ advocacy
groups, journal editors and specialist correspondents became defensive.
10. Durban
Declaration Rebuttal
In response to the views
of dissident scientists who challenge the idea that HIV causes Aid$, an international
group of scientists and doctors has released a manifesto called "The Durban
Declaration" in an attempt to end debate on this critical world health issue.
The journal Nature agreed to publish it in their July 6th 2000 issue. Earlier
this spring, Thabo Mbeki, the President of South Africa, attempted to start
a dialogue between orthodox Aid$ scientists and the dissidents about HIV and
Aid$ in advance of the international Aid$ conference in Durban, South Africa,
from where the declaration gets its name. However, orthodox Aid$ scientists
refused to participate in the dialogue. They chose instead to sign a declaration
restating their consensus position that HIV is the accepted cause of Aid$
and accusing the dissidents of threatening "countless lives", implying that
they must be silenced. Included in this rebuttal is the full text of their
manifesto, along with interlinear comments that show how orthodox claims about
HIV and Aid$ have been repeatedly contradicted in the medical and scientific
literature
11. Positively
Flawed by
Celia Farber
The difference between
thinking you will live and thinking you will die often depends on an HIV antibody
test that is shockingly unreliable. The case of a 3-year-old boy in North
Carolina proves that even hospitals have to admit this now
12. AZT
Roulette The
impossible choices facing HIV-positive women. By Celia Farber
Kris Chmiel is a housewife
and mother of two young children, living in Denver. When she was pregnant
with her second child, a movement had just gotten under way to test all pregnant
women in the state of Colorado for HIV, the virus widely believed to cause
AIDS. (Critics remind us that what is tested for is not, in fact, HIV, but
antibodies to HIV.) She was perfectly healthy and in her first month of pregnancy.
She wasn't worried -- she had been monogamous with her husband for the past
nine years. When the test came back "positive," she literally did not believe

HAVE BEEN REPORTED WITH THE USE OF ANTIRETROVIRAL NUCLEOSIDE ANALOGUES, INCLUDING

14. Why
Formula Milk Should be Illegal
Why is this a picture
you see far too little in pregnancy-magazines ? Because breast-feeding does
not increase any company’s profits.
Logically, formula-fed
babies do not get all the substances they need for optimum brain development.
In the United States only 20% of babies are breastfed at six months, and in
the UK only 25% of babies are breastfed at four months, which is one of the
reasons why people increasingly become more fat, dumb and sick.
Everybody knows that
chemotherapy within years prior to pregnancy can cause premature birth. Because
chemo-drugs are poisonous and mutagenic, killing both cancer- and healthy
cells. Logically mutagenics from foods can do the same
